Rosa Javier's 17 service points, eight aces and 15 assists helped the Greater Lawrence girls volleyball team down Mystic Valley 25-15, 25-14, 25-13. Paolo Gutierrez chipped in 14 kills for the undefeated Reggies (14-0).

In spite of losing the first set 22-25, the Whittier girls volleyball team stormed back to win the next three 25-6, 25-12, 25-18. Samantha Dietrich led the way with an astounding 24 service points, including 12 aces. She also added a team-high six kills, while Kendra Hobbs recorded 10 assists.

MALDEN — Bryan Trickett needed just five plays to control the game.The senior scored on three of the five times he touched the ball to lead Whittier to its second straight win, a 37-20 victory over Mystic Valley last night.

BEVERLY - Manchester Essex head football coach Mike Athanas said Saturday's game against Mystic Valley demonstrated his team's character. The Hornets were playing a Mystic Valley team that is not one of the stronger teams in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference. While some teams would fall into the trap of playing a weaker opponent, the Hornets came out with the focus and intensity of a big game en route to a dominating 35-8 win over the Eagles at Endicott College in Beverly. The Hornets, who improved to 2-0, were lead by a 35-point first half, and saw the backups play the entire second half.

The Whittier duo of Danielle Ryan and Kendra Hobbs dominated Mysitic Valley on their own in the 25-19, 25-22, 25-13 win. Ryan tallied 12 service points in a row on her way to a team-high 17 and Kendra Hobbs notched 10 points in a row, and led with six aces.

Trailing by a goal in the second half, Presentation of Mary struck twice after the break and downed Mystic Valley 2-1. Stephanie Mitrano and Michelle Thach each scored once to give the Panthers their second win of the season. 

With a Thanksgiving day showdown against Georgetown coming up, one might think that Saturday's game against Mystic Valley could have been a trap, with Manchester Essex looking ahead to the Royals.

The Hornets, however, were right on their game with a dominating 31-0 win at Malden Catholic's Brother Gilbert Stadium.

Undefeated Greater Lawrence Tech roughed up Mystic Valley High School 33-0 in a messy game punctuated by Reggies' penalties on both sides of the ball.

Greater Lawrence head coach Tony Sarkis was disappointed in his team's lack of discipline. "There were a lot of penalties. We've got to straighten those out."
