Trailing 49-41 with 4:30 left, Pentucket went on a 14-4 run to pull out a 55-53 win over Arlington Catholic in the Division 3 North first round.
Will Angelini played the game of his life as the 6-5 junior, who is usually a complementary player, erupted for 16 points and 10 rebounds. AC limited sharpshooter Corey McNamara to five points, but Angelini and Mike Doud (14 points) came up big.
The visiting Cougars made it interesting, but couldn't convert three chances in the final 20 seconds.
"We played great defense," said Sachem coach Leo Parent. "They average 69 points. Our defense kept us in it. Will and Mike Doud saved us. Mike to a big late charge."
The win was Pentucket's first in the postseason since 2005.
