CHELSEA —Fullback Jay Desjardins went 73 yards on the first play from scrimmage and their was no stopping Whittier after that. The Wildcats beat Chelsea 20-7.
Four minutes later the 5-11, 180-pound senior bolted 71 yards for another score. Desjardins finished with 19 carries for 174 yards.
Defensive tackle Corey Gallo was immense with three sacks and a blocked punt which he recovered in the end zone for an insurance score midway through the fourth quarter.
Whittier, which didn't complete a pass, improved to 4-4 while Chelsea dropped to 3-5.
