Led by a tremendous first-place finish by Jared Reddy, Methuen's boys cross country team finished an impresive second in its 28-team division at the Manhattan Invitational.
On a 2.5-mile course at Van Courtlandt Park, Reddy pulled away in the last mile and then held on to take top honors in 12:51, two seconds ahead of Nathan McCabe of Baldwinsville, N.Y.
Baldwinsville, the second-ranked team in New York, was the top team with 75 points with Methuen next with 94.
Following Reddy, Andrew Stamatopulos was eighth in 13:11 and Tyler Sullivan was 17th at 13:44, Cam Kelley was 33rd (13:57) and Ben Pare was 35th (13:59).
"I thought we ran a good race overall, but not great," said Methuen coach Bill James. "We know we can do better."
