LYNN | For the second time in eight days, the Gloucester football team traveled to Manning Field in Lynn last night. This time to take on Lynn English.

While last week's showdown between Gloucester and Lynn Classical was a game for the ages, the first place Fishermen's battle with English figured to be a little less tightly-contested based on the records coming in.

Gloucester (9-0) saw to it that there would be no encore performance of last week's down-to-the-wire game, with a 48-8 victory over the Bulldogs, who fell to 3-6 on the season.

The Fishermen scored on their first possession of the game when junior Taylor Burbine scored on a 7-yard touchdown run. It capped off a seven-play, 71-yard drive. The extra point kick failed and Gloucester held a 6-0 lead.

Burbine also picked off an English pass on the ensuing Bulldogs' possession, but Gloucester couldn't cash in for any points.

However, Gloucester scored again on its first drive of the second quarter, when Andrew Fulford ran it in from 41 yards out. Fulford added the two-point conversion to raise the score to 14-0.

The final score of the first half came when junior Dylan Maki intercepted a pass by English quarterback Jesse Fowler, and returned it 27 yards for the touchdown. That was Maki's second touchdown in as many weeks.

Gloucester led 20-0 at halftime.

The lead extended to 41-0 in the third quarter with three more Gloucester touchdowns, starting with a 56-yard run by Fulford on the first play from scrimmage in the half.

On the next English possession, Gloucester blocked the Bulldog's punt and senior John Celata fell on the ball in the end zone for a Fishermen touchdown and later in the quarter senior Brian Harnish added a 13-yard touchdown run.

Gloucester's scoring was capped by a 12-yard touchdown run by junior Ross Carlson in the fourth quarter.
