LYNN | From the opening kickoff you could tell it just wasn't going to be North Shore Tech's night. Moses Valentine ran the opening kick back 80 yards for a touchdown and the Tigers never looked back in a 36-8 rout.

"We've been having trouble getting going (in the first half) and that kickoff return certainly didn't help," said North Shore Tech's oach Mike Drouin.

The opening kickoff seemed to add life into Lynn Tech and conversely take some energy away from the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs would fumble on their first possession and three plays later John Jones would put it in the endzone from 35 yards out.

North Shore Tech had a drive early in the second quarter that stalled on the Tigers four yard line. They had four chances from inside the five and couldn't punch it in. Later in the quarter, Tigers quarterback Jose Rios would run in from 15 yards out to take a 28-0 lead into the half.

Coach Drouin felt it could have been different in the opening half.

"Without that kickoff and another play or two, we're looking at maybe a 14-7 game," said Drouin.

The running back combination of Otis Green and Jones wore the undersized Bulldogs team down in the second half. Both running backs fell just shy of 100 yards rushing as the Tigers utilized the Triple-I formation all night.

"They came after us with that big Triple-I formation and they just grinded away," said Drouin. Lynn Tech followed that game plan throughout as Rios threw only three passes in the entire game.

The Bulldogs quarterback was just the opposite. David St. Pierre was 17 of 30 passing and at least four of those incompletions were drops. Running the spread offense, St. Pierre gives the North Shore Tech program a bright future.

"He's a good young quarterback, he's only a sophomore and he's going to be a good one," said Drouin.

Lynn Tech head coach Gary Sverker agreed.

"I think we played great defense. That's not an easy offense to stop, especially with David running it," said Sverker.
