Andover's field hockey team was in unfamiliar territory — Chelmsford was dominating the first half and had the Golden Warriors pinned in its own end.
"They put us on our heels and we haven't been in that position yet," head coach Maureen Noone said. "They had 10 penalty corners on us and we haven't had that for the whole year."
As flyer on Andover's corner defense, Cat Gross personally broke up half to help keep the game scoreless. Then the Golden Warrior offense broke loose by working the ball from sideline to sideline and passing effectively, scoring goals a minute apart to take a 2-0 victory and stay unbeaten in the Merrimack Valley Conference.
Heather Sullivan, the "cherry picker" of the Andover attack, scored both goals.
"She's the up forward and the one we look for to break things open," Noone said.
