Whittier dug itself a two-game hole before it could get untracked and fell to Notre Dame 3-1 in the Division 3 North quarterfinals. Jordan Alper had eight kills for the Wildcats (15-6) and Danielle Ryan contributed eight service points.
"The girls were a little intimidated by their height early, but after th first two games we played the best we have all season," said Whittier coach Deb Littlefield.
