The Newburyport Clippers (8-2-3) beat the Pentucket Sachems (3-8-2) yesterday, 3-1, overcoming a 1-0 halftime deficit and clinching a postseason berth in the process. Taylor Purcell scored two huge goals, and Callie Hefferan scored off a break away. Haley Morris made 11 saves, and the Clippers led in corner penalties (12-3) and shots on goal (14-12).
"A great second half of play by everyone involved," said Clipper coach Lauren Hefferan. "Haley Johnson, Amelia Manni, and MacKenzie Maguire played excellent."
