Rivera, Manchester Central run over Londonderry

LONDONDERRY — Manchester Central's Jeremyiah Rivera ran wild over Londonderry, rushing for 302 yards and five touchdowns to lead his team to a 41-19 win on Friday.

After Rivera scored a 27-yard rushing touchdown to open the scoring in the first, Londonderry quarterback Jake Stevens answered with a 6-yard touchdown to Cameron MacDonald to tie the score at 7-7.

But then in the second quarter, Manchester took off and there was no stopping them. Rivera scored a 5-yard touchdown to retake the lead, followed by a 10-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Destefano to James Tanguay, and then another 52-yard run by Rivera to blow the game open at 27-7 going into halftime.

Londonderry got a 24-yard touchdown run by Ben Johnson in the third quarter, along with a 20-yard touchdown catch by Adam Wilkinson in the fourth, but Rivera added two more touchdowns, including a 65-yard score to open the third quarter, to keep the game out of reach.

Stevens went 17-36 with 204 yards passing, and Pete Navarro had seven catches for 134 yards to lead the Lancer offense.

Londonderry (0-2) is at Bedford on Friday at 7 p.m.
