Overtime seemed inevitable when Portsmouth Abbey scored the tying goal with 26 seconds left, but Brit Mscisz had other ideas.

Pingree won the ensuing draw after Portsmouth Abbey's goal and got the ball to Mscisz deep in the offensive zone. Mscisz was fouled and then scored on a free position with six seconds to play, giving Pingree a 13-12 victory that virtually ensures the Highlanders will win their fifth straight Eastern Independent League crown.

"We feel real good about this win, particularly since we lost two starting midfielders. We lost Sam Taylor in the last five or six minutes to a twisted ankle and Michaela Colbert had to come out with two yellow cards," Pingree co-coach Ken Carlson said. "We didn't have any midfielders left. We had to convert an attack wing for the end of the game. The team really pulled it together."

Mscisz and Taylor each had four goals and one assist, and Haley Thompson scored two goals. Liza Richardson had one goal and one assist, Colbert added one goal, and C.C. Collier also scored

Liv Whitney stopped 10 shots in goal for Pingree.
