The frustration from last night's loss to Lynn Tech, which essentially decided the Commonwealth Small title, won't drag North Shore Tech down for long.
That's because they'll host the first-ever Bulldog Classic tournament this weekend.
The inaugural game will feature the Bulldogs against Minuteman Tech at noon Saturday, while Greater Lawrence faces Nashoba in the second contest. Sunday, the four squads return to the diamond for the consolation (1 p.m.) and championship (3:30 p.m.) games.
"We're trying to bring out some new fans and bring some passion to the Tech schools," said North Shore head coach John Delaney, who would like to see the tournament expand to six teams next season.
The Bulldogs (8-6) need just one win in their final four games | including today's contest against Whittier Tech | to get back into the state tournament after narrowing missing it a year ago.
"The kids are anxious to get back. We've had a really good year so far," said Delaney. "It could become a yearly thing for us, qualifying as part of our tournament."
