After failing to qualify last year, Andover qualified for the state tournament for the 10th time in 11 years with a 6-5 comeback win over Haverhill. The victory also gave the Golden Warriors (10-8, 9-5 in MVC) a shot at the MVC small school title.
Dracut is 9-4 in the league with a game remaining against Tewksbury.
"It was definitely a big win for us," said Andover coach Stephanie Ragucci, "especially coming on Senior Day, at home."
Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Jeanette Doucette (3 for 4, 3 runs) homered to tie the game and Alex Strock (2 for 3) tripled home Tricia Martin, who had walked, with the game-winner. Doucette is 12 for 18 over the last five games.
Also for the Warriors, Kerry McCarthy (2 for 4) tripled and scored a run.
For Haverhill, Lisa Betances (2 for 3) smacked a solo home run in the fifth and had two RBIs and Alex Stasio was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Betances is now hitting .420 on the year.
