It's all about seeding for the Generals, who have posted a very strong 12-6 record this spring. You could easily make a case for the Generals being the best of the second-tier teams in Division 3. To make a long postseason run, however, H-W will likely have to get some favorable seeding to advance to the semifinals or finals, and it will have to steal a game from one of the big three | Cohasset (12-5), Scituate (10-6) and Dover-Sherborn (12-4).

Two years ago when the Generals advanced to the semifinals, it was Dover-Sherborn that knocked them out and ended their 19-game win streak. Cohasset, Scituate and D-S don't dazzle anyone with spotless records, but that's because they all play the heavyweights during the season.

Take, for example, Scituate, which played back-to-back games against Duxbury and Xaverian this spring. For the record, those were the two state finalists in Division 1 a year ago.

Hamilton-Wenham gets plenty of scoring from Jake Cotter and Ryan Gendreau and the Generals play strong defense, which makes another trip to the semis a real possibility.
