Hamilton-Wenham made the cut for the state tournament yesterday with a solid 15-7 win over Danvers. But according to Generals coach Jimmy LaSelva, earning a spot in the postseason was not the primary motivation against the Falcons.
"It wasn't about qualifying today, it was about playing well," said LaSelva, whose team improved to 9-5. "We were coming off our best game of the year (Thursday) and it was an overtime loss (to North Andover). No way did I want to see a letdown against Danvers. I was comfortable with what I saw."
Ryan Gendreau, who has 38 goals and 15 assists this season, paced the Generals with four goals and two assists. Jake Cotter had three goals while Casey Colyer and Steve Dangora added two apiece. Charlie Pilkanis, Jay Allsopp, Ben Penta and Scottie McCulloch each had a goal.
