The regular season seems to have done wonders for the Lawrence softball team.
The Lancers were inconsistent in the preseason, but they looked impressive yesterday in a 12-2 victory over Pentucket for their second straight win.
"What I liked about this game is that we hit throughout the game," said Lawrence coach Jen Arrajj. "We hadn't been doing that, so it was kind of surprising. Our bats are coming around.
"I can't remember when Lawrence opened with two straight wins. We have a tough schedule so it's nice to get these two wins under our belts."
Luz Brenz led the Lawrence attack with a double among three hits while scoring three times and knocking in a pair of runs and Ramona Moore had two hits including a three-run triple in the third. Jocelyn Valerio got Lawrence started in the first with a two-run double, scored twice and made a great catch in left field.
For Pentucket, which was plagued by errors in the infield, got two hits and an RBI and Samantha Morrow had two hits and scored a run.
"It's too bad because we had been playing good defense," said Pentucket coach Dennis Puleo. "We played two scrimmages without an error Saturday but today I had us down for six errors."
