Odds and ends: Pentucket will not field a freshman team this year, so 16 freshmen will be vying for time on the JV team. ... Last year's freshman coach, Amanda Haas, is coaching at Bishop Fenwick this year.  ... The Sachems should be strong up the middle with the return of Stephanie Hallowell (catcher), Paige Sutherland (shortstop), Samantha Morrow (second base) and Emily Perron (center field). ... Junior Jennifer Meehan, senior Liz Cox and Julianne Meehan are expected to share time on the mound.

Coach Dennis Puleo (5th year, 38-41): "We'll probably be on the (tournament) bubble again. A lot depends on our pitching and whether we can hit. Other than Emily (Perron), we don't have a lot of power and we're going to need to score runs. Defensively, our big questions are at the corners."
