Ipswich's junior ace Kerry Desmond might tell you she didn't have her best stuff since she issues five walks in a 9-0 win over Manchester Essex. But that would be mostly modesty talking.

Desmond tossed the first no-hitter of her career, fanning 11 Hornets en route to the historic ending.

"Kerry was dominating. I don't think they hit a ball out of the infield," said Ipswich coach Doug Woodworth, whose Tigers improved to 2-0.

Kelley Michael knocked in three runs and Emily Bouvier had two hits and two RBIs to give Desmond plenty of support. That enabled her to focus on the task at hand and keep the Hornets hitless.

"It's a good win and Kerry has pitched both our games, so she's off to a good start," said Woodworth. "She wasn't that consistent but she just battled right through it. She got all the outs she needed."
