During the 2007 season, the Rockport baseball team was plagued by a lack of offense. Ironically, in the early going of the 2008 season, the Vikings have been carried by their offense, scoring 40 runs over the first four games of the season.

The Vikings kept their offensive explosion going with a 13-2 win over Manchester Essex (0-3) yesterday. Rockport improved its record to 3-1 with the victory.

Derek Osmond picked up the win for the Vikings, going four innings and allowing just two unearned runs while striking out six. Eric Juncker led the Rockport offense going 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs. Matt Hendy also had a good game for the Vikings with two hits.

"This was a good win over a much-improved Manchester Essex team," Vikings head coach John Parisi said. "Our offense is much better off this year then it was at this point last year, and it has led to wins."
