Marblehead sophomore pitcher Evan Comeau probably didn't know a lot about the Swampscott baseball team's recent struggles and he rightfully didn't care. Comeau was more interested in recording his first varsity win, and he did so in masterful fashion by carrying a no-hitter into the sixth as the Magicians upended the Big Blue 4-2.
"It was his first win and it couldn't come at a better time," said Marblehead coach Jason Tarasuik, whose team won its third straight to improve to 3-4. The slumping Big Blue dropped their sixth straight to fall to 1-6.
Brandon Lee blasted a three-run homer over the right field fence to give the Magicians a big lift in the second inning and Comeau settled in from there. The only hit the Big Blue mustered was a bunt single after a walk in the sixth. Peter Kinchley's grounder caused an error that scored two unearned runs and that was all the offense Swampscott mustered.
Marblehead added an insurance run in the fifth when Nick Haller took the plate as part of a double steal.
"We came ready to play from start to finish and that's how it has been during the last three games," said Tarasuik.
