HAVERHILL — Whittier Regional ran off four consecutive touchdowns on its first four possessions en route to a 42-16 beating of rival Greater Lawrence Regional yesterday in Haverhill.

On Whittier's run, the Reggies only mustered 50 yards of offense in the first half, trailing 30-0.

The Wildcats mix on offense of rushing (33 rushes for 182 yards) and passing (8-for-13, 156 yards and 3 TDs, coupled with its defense left little doubt in this one before the first quarter was over.

Wildcats senior back Jesus Sanchez Jr. did the bulk of the work on the ground from the opening drive. He ran the ball five times on the opening drive, gaining 41 yards, and setting up a nice play-action TD pass from Bradley to Sean Thibodeau.

Sanchez, who finished with 111 yards on 16 carries, scored on a 24-run around the end for a two-score lead, 16-0.

Whittier quarterback Connor Bradley, of Methuen, scored on a 2-yard run before hooking up with Thibodeau again, this time for 17 yards, to make a first half blowout.

The Reggies showed a spark with a quarterback change, with Angel Martin taking over. Martin threw a 48-yard bomb to Jeremy Torres, setting up 8-yard TD run by Martin. Martin also scored in the fourth quarter, running the ball six times for 57 yards en route to his 16-yard TD run.
