LAWRENCE — Lawrence rolled past Methuen, 99-46, to complete a 4-0 dual meet season and clinch the MVC Small title. It was the Lancers' first crown since 2010.
"It's good for the city and the school to have some success," said first-year coach Bill Meuse. "These seniors have been great role models for the rest of the school for how success happens. Their competitiveness has been something special."
Senior Kelvin Flores won the long jump (20-3) and 100 (11.1). He led a sweep of the 100 with Jose Adames second and Jacob Toledo third. Junior Edward Quezada went 1:59.8 in the 800, his first career sub-2:00 clocking.
Meuse has the Midas touch. Last year he led Tewksbury to the MVC Small championship.
The future looks bright as 80 boys are still competing for the Lancers.
"We are keeping the numbers up and kept them excited about the sport," said Meuse, who is in his first year as a phys ed teacher at LHS.
