FRAMINGHAM — Methuen's wrestling team had three different grades represented on top of the podium yesterday at the Framingham Tournament.
The trifecta — sophomore Billy Wehring (113), senior Christian Monserrat (138) and freshman Darius Franklin (160) — paced the Rangers to fourth place in the 19-team meet. Schalmont, N.Y., was first followed by Framingham, Milford and the Rangers.
Monserrat led the way as he pinned his first three opponents and recorded a technical fall in the finals to register his fourth Framingham crown in four years and improve to 13-0 on the year.
Nearly as impressive was Franklin, who pinned his first three opponents and then took a major decision in the finals.
The Rangers had four other placers, the most impressive being sophomore Todd Moschetto at 120. Wrestling in his first varsity tournament, he placed fifth in a tough weight class. "We could have done a little better, but overall it was a good tournament for us," said Methuen coach Bill James.
Methuen is in action in a home quad-meet Saturday that will include haverhill.
