Pentucket soccer coach Christina Langlois got more concerned as last night's game crept toward the end of regulation, but Luis O'Meara calmed his nerves.
After center midfielder Mike Salmonsen swiped a Salem clearing pass with five minutes left, he fed Zack Bartula on the right wing. The fullback sent in a perfect cross to O'Meara and the senior popped in a header from 12 yards out to give the top seeded Sachems a 1-0 victory and a berth in the Division 2 North semifinals.
All night long, Pentucket's defensive quartet of Bartula, Jake Chory and twins Ben and Will Craig shut the door on the No. 9 Witches, allowing just one shot to leak through to goalie Cody Sedler.
The Sachems will next take on Concord-Carlisle Friday afternoon at Lynn's Manning Field.
