Hamilton-Wenham's tremendous freshman, Mike Carter-Williams, has answered the question about whether his slender build could stand up through an entire season and into the state tourney. Carter-Williams averaged 20.4 points and had some of his best games down the stretch for the Generals, who turned out to be one of the best stories on the North Shore this season as they compiled a 14-4 record.

"We backed off on his minutes for a few games earlier this season," Hamilton-Wenham coach Marty Binette said of Carter-Williams, who carries 130 pounds on his 5-foot-11 frame. "The last two weeks, we just let him play a lot of minutes again. This kid played a ton of basketball even before he got to high school. He knows how to monitor himself and how hard he has to play."

Carter-Williams does not shy away from his defensive responsibilities. Binette pointed out that Carter-Williams is second on the team in steals and deflections, and holds his own on the glass.

As for the team, it's unfortunate that the Generals were limited to 18 games due to budget cuts at the school. Binette has filled the void this week by scheduling scrimmages against two other tourney-bound teams, Beverly and Marblehead.
