Finding someone who could help complete the team's second line and add a scoring presence is something the Danvers High hockey team has been looking for all season.

They may have found that person in Chris Kontos. A sophomore winger, Kontos had his first varsity goal last night and also dished out his first assist as the Falcons knocked off Haverhill, 4-2, in the first round of the 13th annual Newburyport Bank Classic.

"We moved Chris up from the third line and put him at right wing, moving Stephen Deroche (1 goal, 1 assist) to center and keeping (senior) Jay Sabino (2 assists) at left wing on that second line. It worked out great," Danvers head coach Kevin Brown said. "Chris really handled himself well and clicked with those guys."

Junior first line center Troy Thibodeau added a goal and an assist and his linemate, freshman left wing Kyle Larson, also scored. In addition, Kontos' brother, senior captain and first line right wing Steve Kontos, added a pair of assists for Danvers (11-6-2).
