Kyle Larson made it official last night: the first line freshman left wing can not only play a regular shift for the Danvers High hockey team, but he can also be a difference maker on a nightly basis.

Larson scored two power play goals in the final four-and-a-half minutes to power the Falcons to their third win in four games, a 2-1 decision over Winthrop at Salem State's Rockett Arena.

"Every shift was an energy shift for Kyle," said head coach Kevin Brown of Larson, who has four goals and eight points in his first seven varsity games. "He played hard and skated hard, and came up with some huge goals when we really needed them."

Captain Steve Kontos assisted on both of Larson's goals, coming with 4:30 and 2:17 to play, respectively. Center Troy Thibodeau also had an assist for the Falcons (3-2-2) while senior captain Pat O'Kane stopped 20 shots in goal.

"We went from playing lackluster in the first period to really moving our feet and putting good pressure on Winthrop in the third," said Brown, whose team skates against Marblehead Saturday at Salem State. "It was good to see us turn it up like that."
