In a controlling first-half effort on both ends of the court, Andover strode out to a 22-point lead and held off a late Methuen run for a 58-47 consolation round victory.

James Costello (20 points) and Sam Dowden (13 points) combined for three 3-pointers in a 53-second span of the first quarter, and that run combined with stingy Golden Warrior defense garnered a 19-4 lead that was extended to 24 points early in the second half.

However, the Rangers didn't pack it in, surging behind the hard work of Kyle Mansour (game-high 23 points) to close the gap. And when 6-7 senior Ryan Freeman threw down a fierce dunk with 4:11 left in the game, Methuen had climbed within 10 points at 52-42.

The roll ended there as Andover junior Chris Dunn drained a crushing 3-pointer on the following possession and Methuen could get no closer than the 11-point final margin.
