GEORGETOWN — An already young Georgetown High team got even younger this week.

The youthful remaining Royals delivered a brave but fruitless error here yesterday, falling to Lynnfield, 35-7.

"We had a rough week this week, with some in house issues where 5-6 kids are no longer on the team, all upperclassman," said Royals coach Paul Sobolewski. "I'm really proud of the way these young kids played. We played a football game with two seniors, no juniors, 17 sophomores and the rest freshmen. To be in the position we were, in the second quarter with seven sophomores starting on defense, with two freshmen and two seniors, I'm proud of them."

That position, was trailing Lynnfield just 14-7 after the Royals marched 43 yards and cashed in with an 18-yard TD hookup from Tyler Wade to Colby Ingraham at the 8:28 mark of the second quarter.

Unfortunately, Georgetown's issues with tackling were simply too much to overcome on this day as the Pioneers won the first-half yardage battle 272-89, edged to a 28-7 lead by the break and coasted home.

"Under the cricumstances, these kids rallied and played their hearts out," Sobolewski said.

Wade, one of two seniors along with gritty center/defensive tackle Mike Bjork, had some success moving the ball through the air, hitting 9 of 15 passes for 84 yards.

The sophomore Ingraham was tough as nails defensively with 11 tackles. He also caught three passes for 50 yards.

Things don't get any easier for Georgetown, which has to contend with unbeaten conference leader Hamilton-Wenham next week before the Turkey Day clash with Manchester.

"These guys don't have any reason to hang their heads," said Sobolewski. "We have a lot of work to do, almost like having a new team. But we'll be ready for Thanksgiving. That's our championship."
