The Gloucester boys soccer team has perhaps the most feared striker in the Northeastern Conference in Shane O'Neill, who suffered an injured left calf in a recent match vs. Masconomet. Sources indicate the senior standout may have a tear; he'll be out of action for another week.

"Gloucester is not the same without him," Marblehead head coach Steve Ingemi said, "In fact, they're a completely different team without Shane in the lineup."

It's a sigh of relief for rival coaches not to face O'Neill, according to Ingemi.

"I'm wondering if this injury will hurt his MVP chances," Ingemi said. "Shane is by far the most feared kid in the league. He's a tremendous player. He has size, quickness and strength.

"Like I said, you don't like the idea of facing him, but you still feel for him, knowing how much he loves game." O'Neil has a twin brother, Theon, who is a sweeper for the Fishermen.
