First year fireworks

A pair of freshmen lit up North Andover's offense in a 17-6 pounding of Andover. Courtney Green's bases-loaded triple in the third inning put the game out of reach, and teammate Sara McCarthy tacked on some insurance with a two-run double in the fifth. Senior Jess Musto led the Golden Warriors with two hits and a pair of RBIs.

Waldie walks off with win

NORTH ANDOVER — For senior standout Candace Waldie and the North Andover softball team, this was definitely a case of "all's well that ends well."

Waldie, an Eagle-Tribune All-Star catcher the last two years and a UMass Amherst recruit, was at shortstop for the first time of her career as the Knights opened their season at home against Amesbury.

Frosh debut

 

North Andover freshman Sarah Lemerise, in her first start of the season in the infield, was 2 for 2 with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Knights blanked Presentation of Mary 10-0. Candace Waldie was 3 for 4 with four RBIS.
