Andover senior Jake Ponti ripped a two-run home run in the first inning to spark the Warriors to a 6-1 victory over Billerica. Classmate Jonathan Levenson went the distance for the win, scattering six hits and not allowing an earned run.

Tewksbury made a quick start last in its 6-3 victory over Andover. Catcher C.J. Leary paced the Warrior offense with a pair of hits.

Mike McQuillan's two-run single sparked a seven-run first inning as Andover defeated Methuen 13-3. John Hennessy added three hits, two RBIs and scored twice for the winners.

Senior John Hennessey and the Andover baseball teamwere apparently eager to finally open the season. Hennessey was 4 for 4, scored four runs and drove in three yesterday as the Warriors ripped Westfield 16-8. Jake Ponti added a double and triple and three RBIs and Mike McQuillan was 3 for 4 with three RBIs. "John (Hennessey) has been hot all sprng and it rubbed off," said first-year coach Dan Grams.
