Defending Division 1 state champion Pinkerton lost a heartbreaker in its season opener. St. Thomas Aquinas scored the game winner on a power play with 29 seconds left to post a 3-2 victory. It came after Pinkerton had battled back to erase a two-goal deficit in the final period.
