Claudia Crowe hit a sacrice fly to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to keep Methuen undefated (6-0). Jillian McCoy hurled a nifty four-hitter for the win, striking out six and not allowing an earned run.=u

Kelsie McGonagle went the distance, allowing zero earned runs as Methuen beat Haverhill, 9-2, to improve to 5-0. Steph Tardugno (2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Emma McAlpine (2 hits, 2 RBIs) led the offense. Kerrin McLaughlin had three hits for the Hillies.

Nyah Mazzone had two hits, both doubles, two RBIs and scored two runs to pace unbeaten Methuen over Billerica 6-2.

METHUEN — It's too soon for conclusions, but Methuen coach Jason Smith is definitely happy with his offense.

"We have a lot clean up on defense but we are hitting the ball," said Smith. "It's still early but that is looking good."

Methuen's bats were smoking to open the season, smacking five home runs and 26 hits in a 28-1 romp over Lawrence. Nyah Mazzone led the way with two home runs and six RBIs while Courtney Belanger (4 for 5), Kaylla Allbee and Kerri Horan (3 for 3)also slugged homers,
