NORTH ANDOVER — Andover took a 13-2 lead after one quarter and cruised past Salem 72-44 in a consolation game at the 41st annual Commonwealth Motors Christmas Classic.

E.J. Perry IV scored a game-high 17 points, dished out seven assists and had double-figure rebounds as Andover beat North Andover 68-43 in the fifth-place game at the Commonwealth Classic.

ANDOVER — The season may have been just two games old, and the Christmas tournament still on the way, but Andover knew it faced a major challenge when it took the court against Lawrence.

“Lawrence shocked everyone by beating Central Catholic,” said Golden Warrior senior Jonathan Rodriguez. “That really put us on our toes. This was definitely our first big test of the season, and we passed the test.”

Coming off a stellar football season, Andover's EJ Perry IV came out shooting in Tuesday's 78-58 win over Methuen. Perry drained five 3-pointers en route to 30 points, Brandon Witten added 19 points and Jonathan Rodriguez scored 16. Keegan Lannon led Methuen with 12 points.
