Underclass of the field

Andover's future paid dividends yesterday in a 14-3 win over Lowell. Freshman Julie LeBlanc and sophomore McKenzie Billings scored their first varsity goals, finishing with a hat trick apiece, while freshman Weezie Gross played well with a pair of goals and two assists. "After a tight game (Monday against Franklin), it was nice to get the younger kids in there," said coach John McVeigh.

Geffken stepped up

With Andover's starting goalie out due to a concussion, freshman Katherine Geffken has done a more than admirable job as shown by her performance in a 13-10 win over Franklin. Geffken made eight saves in the victory including several huge stops down the stretch, helping the Golden Warriors break open a first-half deadlock. "Katherine plays with a confidence far beyond her second high school game," head coach John McVeigh said. "She rose to the occasion."

Finally....Andover plays and wins

After watching its first two games get postponed due to inclement weather, Andover finally had a chance to step on the field - and they made the most of it.

Jen Caro scored four times while Meagan Keefe and Kate Farnham added three goals each during Andover's 18-10 opening-day win,  over Chelmsford.
