We may only be in the first quarter of the season still, but there seems to be no doubt about which area team features the best duo.

Swampscott is off to a 5-0 start and junior forwards Tara Nimkar and Allie Beaulieu are playing better than any other North Shore tandem.

Nimkar, a force inside the paint, has had three consecutive games of 20-plus points, while Beaulieu continues to do it all for the Big Blue. Nimkar is currently the area's second leading scorer at 18.4 points per game and Beaulieu is fourth at 16.6.

Against Gloucester last week, Beaulieu was a rebound short of a triple-double, while Nimkar is almost a guaranteed double-double every night.

In order for Swampscott to have continued success Swampscott still needs other players to contribute. "We can't just be a two-person show," Swampscott coach Jack Hughes said. "A lot of what we run is for those two, but we need other kids to help out."

Sophomore guard Kara Gillberg seems more than willing to do her part. Gillberg is coming off a huge game against Alvirne (N.H.), where she scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. She's currently averaging 10.4 points per contest.
