Dominic Ziolek won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.68), the 200 IM (2:14.22) and swam on the winning 200 medley relay as Londonderry topped Pinkerton (112-58) and Merrimack (124-37). The Astros added a victory over the Tomahawks (120-38), led bu a victory in the 100 butterfly by Ben Dyson.

Sanborn standout

 

In a 12-team meet at UNH Sunday, Sanborn's Ginny Lavallee was first in the 300 dash (44.70) and first in the 55 hurdles (8.50) as well as taking third in the long jump and running on the winning 4x160-meter relay team. Also, Lexie Basiliere was fifth in the 1,500.

Fantastic freshmen

Freshmen Danielle Voke and Sophia Pasewark both won individual events to help North Andover swimming post a 105-59 victory over Manchester Essex. Voke won the 200 individual medley in 2:30.78. Pasewark won the 500 freestyle in 5:48.06.

Shea, Mayo strong for Salem

Caitlyn Shea led Salem with two impressive victories in a meet against Timberlane, Dover and St. Thomas Aquinas. Shea won out in the 100 butterfly (1:03.04) and 200 IM (2:20.28). Teammate Jackie Mayo also was triumphant in the 200 freestyle (2:05.24) and placed second in the 100 backstroke.

New Hampshire Meet of Champions

Salem's Caitlyn Shea finished the 200 IM in a time of 2:19.95 to place fourth at the New Hampshire Meet of Champions.  She followed that performance with a 5:24.41 in the 500 freestyle, placing sixth.

Dolan paces North Andover to CAL title

Jack Dolan finished the 200 IM in the personal-best time of 2:17.75 as North Andover put the finishing touches on a perfect 8-0 season to claim the Cape Ann League title. Kaitlin Simpson qualified with the sectionals with personal bests in the 200 freestyle (2:11.50) and the 100 freestyle (59.65).  Tori Frizelle broke two school records in the win - one being her own 500 freestyle from last year (5:14.75) - and the other 100 backstroke record (101.85), which had stod since 2006.

In the final dual meet of his career, Haverhill senior Ben Delaware scored the first victory of his varsisty career, winning the 500 freestyle in 6:24.04 as the Hillies downed Melrose 95-78.

Safety, and victory, in numbers

Strong team swimming allowed Haverhill to win events even though Belmont had the first finisher, winning 95-85 as a result. Connor Cronin and Phil Donnelly were neck-and-neck for second and third in the 200 IM while Mike Carbone and Max Koffman finished 2-3 in the 100 backstroke separated by just 4/100th of a second. "We came together as a team (yesterday)," said head coach George Nigro. "It felt nice to win."

Scott Rose to the occasion

Captain Rose Scott posted personal bests in the 200 yard freestyle (2:59.03) and the 100 butterfly (1:45.99), and her second place finishes in both events helped Greater Lawrence win its final home meet, 90-74 over Minuteman. Adanis Belliard and Xavier Serrano had a first and second each in the Reggie victory.

Knights make waves

North Andover's swim team moved within one meet of a second straight perfect 8-0 record with an easy 101-82 victory over Hamilton-Wenham. Tori Frizelle had a personal-best 1:03.88 to win the backstroke and freshman Heather Buttress was an impressive second in the diving with a PR score of 148.25. Standout Bryan Walcker won two events and was on two winning relays.
