Playoff bound

Haverhill's golf team qualified for state tournament play with its 15-5 victory over Methuen. Medalist John Orsillo led the Hillies, 9-5-1, with a 36 to win his match 4 and 3. Craig Farley and Jim Murphy also pitched in with victories for Haverhill. Methuen was led by Mark Fisher, who won his match 3 and 2.

Gloucester 0, Winthrop 0

The Fishermen picked up a much needed win improving their record to 7-4 on the season. Josh Salah lead the way for Gloucester shooting a one under par 34. Mackenzie Quinn and Ben Mosse also played well for Gloucester shooting a 37 and 39 respectively while Tyler Quince and Artie Choate won their matches.

Senior captain Paul Robinson shot a 1-under par 34 to score 38 points for the Vikings (3-7). Phil MacArthur added 25 points and Dave Campbell scored 21 points.

Vikings stay undefeated, extend streak to 25

The Triton Vikings (11-0) plugged out another win by beating the Hamilton-Wenham Generals, 157-126, and continued their league winning streak to 25 games. Viking senior/captain Andrew Fecteau led all players with 38 points by finishing 1 under par. Tom Bashaw (28), Cam D'Agastino (27), Richard Fecteau (23), and Mike Zappala (22) rounded out the victory for Triton.

Amesbury 132, Manchester 128

The Amesbury Indians (4-8) pulled out a close win over the visiting Manchester-Essex Hornets (4-7), 132-128. Joe Kezer (34), James Cashman (23), Dylan Powers (22), Sean Ward (18), Troy Eaton (18), and Jon Fournier (17) were the leading scorers for the Indians. Seventh grader Miles Wood led the Hornets from the eight spot with 27 points.

Hamilton-Wenham 170, Manchester 169

The Manchester Essex golf team was handed a heart breaking loss against Hamilton-Wenham yesterday. With the score tied after the top six scorers, the tie breaker was determined from the next highest scorer on each team, in which the Generals had a one point advantage. Zeke Gillette was the top scorer for the Hornets with 31 points, Erik Ferm, Connor Howlett and Miles Wood tallied 27, 25 and 24 respectively.

Eagle Eye

Haverhill's Tim LeBlanc notched an impressive eagle on a par-5 at Haverhill Country club. On his third shot, he found the cup from 170 yards out with his 6-iron. LeBlanc shot a 36 on the day and the Hillies beat Central Catholic 111/2-81/2.
