Methuen senior Mike O'Donnell finished fourth at the Bay State Invitational yesterday, running 16:24 on the hilly 5K course. The Rangers finished fifth, two places ahead of St. John's Prep.In the girls race, Andover — led by Leila Aruri — was sixth and Central Catholic came in seventh.

The Merrimack women’s soccer team dominated the second half, but visiting Adelphi kept the home side at bay, as both the Warriors and Panthers played to a scoreless draw in a key Northeast-10 Conference showdown last night.

Competing in the Brown Northeast Championships at Goddard Park in Warwick, R.I., Timberlane senior Hannah Kimball had his best race of the season, finishing third overall in 18:59 on the 5K course. Kate Estep also ran well, finishing 15th. Both the Timberlane boys and girls came in 15th. The boys were led by Zach Bowen in 59th (17:24) followed by Peter Saviano in 61st and James Busi in 64th.

Six Pentucket runners (Alex Demeule, Drew Capener, Deven McKee, Jeremy Binding, Joe Labrecque, Cooper Carifio) finished in a tie for first place in 18:30 as the Sachems beat Triton 15-50. 

Haverhill senior Nick Comei reached his season goal while finishing sixth in a tri-meet split with Chelmsford and Lawrence. His time of 16:26 on the 2.9-mile home course puts him on the Hillie all-time list for times. Christian White was second overall in 16:05.

Methuen's boys cross country team defeated Andover for the first time in three years, and also defeated Haverhill, to improve to 6-2 on the year.

After winning a quad meet last week, Windham rode three personal-best times to a cross country victory over ConVal yesterday. Alex Brissette, Doug DeLuca and Peter Caron all posted their best 5K times to finish 2-3-4 behind teammate and victor Brandon Bielinski.
