Londonderry moves on

Kayleen Walberg scored two goals and assisted on another as No. 2 Londonderry rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat No. 10 Timberlane 5-2 in the Division 1 soccer quarterfinals. Emily Crocetti, Aliza Simpson and Lydia Simmon seach also scored a goal for the Lancers, who face No. 3 Bedford on Wednesday at at 5:30 p.m. at Southern New Hampshire University.

Not afraid of Ghosts

Westford, which was coming off a Tuesday shocker over unbeaten Lincoln-Sudbury, found a tougher matchup than the top-ranked team in Emass. The Ghosts fell to North Andover, 2-0, in girls soccer action. Midfielders Abbie Karalis, Tess Dunham and Catie Wolstromer carried the Knights. "Doc" Guthrie and Pam Coufos scored.

Andover pushes Raiders to limit

Alli Wiggins scored the equalizer with 75 seconds left to play, preserving Central Catholic's unbeaten season at 12-0-3 after a 1-1 tie with Andover. Veronica Alois had put Andover up 1-0 with the earlier goal.

Royal qualifier

Needing a win or tie to qualify for the postseason in the regular season finale, the Georgetown High girls did it in style. The Royals made Kristin Hogan's first-half goal stand up in a 1-0 shutout win over Manchester Essex.
Jaime Block made 7 saves to protect the shutout for the Royals.

Morrier, Owls advance

Rachel Morrier assisted on two goals as No. 10 Timberlane beat No. 7 Bishop Guertin 3-0 in the Division 1 North soccer first round. Nichole Bruen and Caitlin Rothwell each scored a goal for the Owls, who travel to face No. 2 Londonderry on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Waldie all-league

 

 

For the second consecutive year, Merrimack field hockey senior goalkeeper Kerri Bergquist was named the league’s best netminder, earning the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year Award as the league announced its year-end awards. A first-team All-American and First-Team All-Conference member last fall, Bergquist played a pivotal role toward the team’s success as the Warriors won their second straight regular season title this fall.  For her efforts, Joining Bergquist  on the NE-10 All-Conference first team were North Andover's Candace Waldie, senior forward April Daugherty and Jessica Otis.
