Needing to run the table with five wins for a postseason lacrosse berth, Georgetown used its Senior Day to get the ball rolling by beating North Shore, 16-5. Mikaela Epstein (three goals) had probably her best game of the season, sparking the Royals' midfield offense. Brynn Beaudoin, Kylie Troy and Jess Rosenthal had their first goals of season in the victory.

Taylor Miller held previously unbeaten North Shore to just four hits, striking out eight in Whittier's 4-0 victory. Kailah Goulet drove in three runs with her three singles and Josie Sanchez had a triple and scored a run for the Wildcats (5-0).

North Shore 9, Greater Lawrence 7

Manny Rosario plated two runners with a bases-loaded single in the sixth inning and followed with a run-scoring base hit in the seventh, but Greater Lawrence's huge rally fell just shy in a 9-7 loss to North Shore. The Reggies trailed 9-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning before erupting to make the game close.

Reggie upset

Perennial CAC Small champion North Shore-Essex Aggie threatened with two runs in the top of the seventh but Maggie Santomassino was up to the challenge and Greater Lawrence held on 5-4. Freshman catcher Samantha Smerdon had a big day behind the plate while Alyssa Melendez stroked her third triple in the last two games.

Close to perfect

Ryan Browner came within three outs of his second career no-hitter in Georgetown's 9-0 whitewashing of North Shore. Browner, who yielded just two hits in going the distance, was perfect through five innings. First baseman Dan Manning turned several high throws into outs and third baseman Tom Pingree showed good range to help preserve the no-hit bid.

Spinning a gem

Starter Brian Vezina allowed just one hit in four innings, and Shane Surette and Connor Manning combined for three innings of one-hit relief, neither walking a batter to help Whittier roll over North Shore 15-0. Catcher Anthony Licciardello added three hits, four RBIs and threw one of North Shore's three base runners out trying to steal.

Sophomore Ben Noelk grabbed seven steals, seven rebounds and had seven assists to go with a career-best 10 points as Georgetown closed out its season with a 73-51 win over North Shore.

Creesy, McGrath headline Whittier's victory

MIDDLETON — Whittier didn’t need the ball much yesterday. Not with the kind of defense the Wildcats played.

Jack Creesy had two of the Wildcats’ three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown and setting up another as Whittier routed North Shore 32-6. The Wildcats (5-3) ran only 30 plays in the game — 28 fewer than the Bulldogs (1-7).
