Methuen won big in its first girls lacrosse game of the season. Ten Rangers scored, led by junior Brenna Greene with four and junior Katy Dorandi with three. Junior goalie Lindsey Manick made four saves.

Andover boys hockey made quick work of Medford in the first round of the Division 1 North tournament, skating to a 7-0 win. Evan Arpin had a pair of goals and a pair of assists for the No. 4 Warriors, who will host either Burlington or Newburyport on Sunday (time TBA).

North Andover's hockey team recorded its third straight shutout, blanking Medford 2-0. Charlie Dean and Jake Sitak scored for the Knights (11-6-2) and Jack Walsh had 21 saves.

Big Methuen rally

 

Trailing 3-1 in the second half, Methuen's girls soccer team got a pair of goals within a minute from Stephanie Tardugno and scored the game-winner with a minute to play from Bella Keaney to secure a thrilling 4-3 win over Medford. Earlier, freshman Emma Kwong scored the firet goal of her varsity career.

Newburyport's Molly Elmore made 23 saves as the Masconomet girls hockey co-op shut out Medford 2-0 on Saturday. Fellow Clipper Sami Kelleher scored the first goal, Mikayla Vincent had the other and Abby Gendron and Gianna Conte had the assists.

Lawrence wins in OT, snaps 23-game losing streak

MEDFORD — Lawrence football has seemed snakebitten over the past few years, and Friday night it looked like the Lancers might snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again.

In the second half, the Lancers missed a field goal, fumbled the ball twice in the red zone and had a potential touchdown pass caught out of bounds. Coach Mike Yameen said afterwards he thought it just wasn't going to be his team's day once again.
