Pinkerton senior golfer Greg Pogga knew he didn't play well when his team lost to Salem by one point earlier in the season and he did something about it yesterday.

Pogga shot a 37, five strokes better than in the previous matchup as the Astros (14-1) upended Salem by three strokes, 189-192. Both teams cruised past Memorial and Nashua North.

Taylor Healey's first half goal was all that Salem needed in a 1-0 win over Manchester Memorial. Jamie Kluft made seven saves to post the shutout.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — An unlikely prime-time performer stood out among the usual stars last night. Shawn Clukey, the kicker, shined brightly during Pinkerton's 41-6 blowout of Manchester Memorial.

Pinkerton topped Manchester Memorial, 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 25-16. Mikayla Floyd led the Astros with five kills and 25 assists while Kacie Connal had 18 kills and six blocks. Kenna Finnlayson added eight kills and Megan Farrios contributed with seven kills. The Astros are now 3-0.

Jordyn Hamilton fired a long pass down field that was tipped in by Brittany Gentile to give Pinkerton a 2-1 overtime victory over Manchester Memorial. Tori Elliott scored the Astros’ first goal, on an assist from Shealyn Testa. Gina Rosinski and Julie Medeiros combined in net for the win.

Amanda Saab’s 17 kills and 18 service points powered Salem past Manchester Memorial 25-15, 25-14, 23-25, 25-12. Kerry White, a freshman, added five kills and three blocks and Melissa Paris shined on defense.

Lawrence's KB Oshodi has been one of Central Catholic's best and brightest track stars. And he has the Raider football program to thank for it.

"In my freshman year, the football coaches wanted to get us to do track," Oshodi explained. "They said it would be good to try and do a lot of different stuff. In the triple jump, in my first year, I was doing better than the varsity guys. I did well and I just continued to improve."

Salem easily passed its first test on the road to repeating at New Hampshire Class L champions, dropping Manchester Memorial 60-42 last night.

"We got out to an excellent start and then made sure we took care of business," said Salem coach E.J. Perry, whose team is now 40-1 in the last two years of Class L action.

The dice came up with a pair of nines for the Timberlane wrestling team at the Division 1 state meet yesterday, and they were big winners.

The Owls, thanks to a shocking 9-for-9 performance in the semifinals earlier in the day, cruised to their ninth straight Division 1 crown in resounding fashion.
