Freshman standout Charlotte Hinchey continued her dazzling freshman season by scored twice, giving her 13 goals on the season, as Salem girls soccer defeated Manchester Memorial 3-1 in the Division 1 preliminary round. The Blue Devils will now play at Windham at 2 p.m. Sunday in the quarterfinals.

The Windham boys soccer team blanked Manchester Memorial 3-0 in the first round of the Division 1 tournament. Owen Laroco, Charlie Breen and Max Husson scored for the Jaguars, who play in the quarterfinals against powerful Manchester Central on Saturday.

Trailing by nine entering the fourth quarter, the Salem boys basketball team fought back to send the game into overtime before holding on to beat Manchester Memorial, 57-56. Adan Ayala had 16 points to lead the Blue Devils (7-6, 5-5 NH) to their third straight win.

Anthony Survilas had a hat trick as Salem blanked Manchester Memorial 6-0.

Freshmen Aidan Williams  (113) and Ky Cole (138) had pins to spark Windham to an easy 52-16 win over Manchester Memorial.

Joe Boenrader didn't score, but he did dish out five assists to help the Salem hockey team crush Manchester Memorial, 6-0. Anthony Survilas scored twice for the Blue Devils (2-0).

Pinkerton opened its wrestling season with a 66-10 rout of Manchester Memorial as the Astros had nine pins and two forfeits. Eight of the pins were in the first period, the quickes in 14 seconds by heavyweight Jake Scarelli.

HAVERHILL — If you were a Salem fan, there was a lot to be happy about Saturday afternoon at Trinity Stadium.

The Blue Devils (7-2) not only tuned up for next weekend's playoff game at Goffstown with a resounding 47-13 victory over Memorial, but they accomplished the following:

It was not a particularly strong day for the local girls varsity teams at the Manchester Invitational Saturday, but the youngsters ran well.

In the 3K freshman race, Pinkerton finished third overall led by Faith Mamos in fifth (14:55) and Grace Jellow in seventh (15:03). Emily Smith of Londonderry came in 11th.
