Andover knocked off perrenial power Shrewsbury, 3-2, to close the regular season with a 16-2 record. With the match tied at 2-2, it came down to No. 1 singles and Javier Camino posted the 6-7, (5-7), 6-0, 6-2 victory. Coach Mike Wartman said, "Javier elevated his play and played a real smart match."

Andover wins second straight state title

SHREWSBURY — It was déjà vu all over again for the Andover girls tennis team, who ended their season exactly the way they did a year ago, by beating Shrewsbury 3-2 in the Division 1 state final to cap off a perfect season.

The Golden Warriors (23-0) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but then had to sweat through a period of uncertainty as Shrewsbury (18-3) kept within striking distance in the other three matches.

Andover places fourth

SHREWSBURY —  Top-seeded Andover placed fourth at the state gymnastics meet.

The top four was Algonquin 143.700, Beverly 141.55, Chelmsford 141.525 and Andover 140.85. The Golden Warriors scored 143.55 points to win the North Sectional title but injuries slowed them a bit.
