Led by the Forrest brothers Corey and Jesse, the Salem vollyball team won their 86th consecutive match over Oyster River to improve to 12-0 on the season. Jesse Forrest, a senior, led the team with seven blocks, while his sophomore brother Corey added 10 kills as Salem inched one game closer to securing a number one seed for the state tourney.

Timberlane outfoxes Oyster River

SALEM, N.H. | Just a eight weeks ago Timberlane was in disarray.

The team had just dropped a 4-0 decision to Andover in the Blue Devil Holiday Classic followed by a 3-0 loss the following night to Oyster River. In that second game, head coach Andrew Merrick decided to sit five of his varsity players for what he described as a "lack of effort."

Methuen senior John Sughrue didn't get the match he would have preferred, but he had plenty of consolation yesterday at the Methuen Invitational.

Because he moved up a weight class to 130 pounds this year, there was no showdown with Salem star Trevor Dearden, but both Sughrue and Dearden came away big winners.
