Central Catholic loses game and tiebreaker, eliminated from Super 8

NORTH ANDOVER — Yesterday went from bad to worse for Central Catholic hockey.

First, the Raiders fell to Hingham 2-1 in their Super 8 third round game at Merrimack College.

Then, three hours later down 495 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Malden Catholic beat Weymouth 5-4.

Gloucester dominates Hingham, 41-0 to capture Division 2A Super Bowl

Foxboro | Gloucester made history in several ways on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. With a 41-0 pasting of Hingham (11-2) in the Division 2A Super Bowl, the Fishermen (13-0) became just the third team in Eastern Mass. playoff history (Ipswich in 2006 and Marian in 2001) to allow no points in the playoffs. After a 39-0 win over Masconomet last Tuesday in the Division 2A semifinals, Gloucester once again stepped up in its biggest game of the year and finished the impressive 2007 campaign undefeated.

The Crusaders may have come up empty in the victory department | dropping a 42-27 decision to Hingham for their first back-to-back losses since 2003 | but strides were made to get back to the team that is considered the favorite to win the Catholic Central League this season.
