Knights stun Newton South

North Andover handed No. 2 ranked Newton South its first loss of the season, locking down the Lions' top scorers in the fourth quarter to win 54-51 in the finals of the IAABO Tournament. Abbie Karalis had five 3-pointers on her way to 23 points and was named the Tournament MVP, and Emily Sifferlen was also named All-Tournament after scoring 18 points.

Andover falls at Garden

Newton South outscored Andover 26-15 in fourth quarter to earn a 64-57 win at the TD Garden. E.J. Perry IV had 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Brandon Witten added 14 points. Andover was behind the 8-ball with standout Jonathan Rodriguez fighting foul problems throughout the game. Andover is No. 20 and South No. 19 in the ESPNBoston statewide poll.

Rooks overcomes cramps to lead Andover to North Finals

The Andover boys tennis team is headed back to the Division 1 North Finals after beating Newton South 3-2 thanks in large part to a gritty performance by junior Drew Rooks.

Rooks won his match at third singles 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the victory for the Golden Warriors, but not before first having to fight through painful cramps that left him hobbled for much of the match.

Scoring the most points it ever has at the meet, North Andover came up short to North Attleboro at the Division 2 EMass Relays. 

North Attleborough was at 76, North Andover scored 68 and Central Catholic was third at 53.

Raiders reach quarters

With Central Catholic's two pitchers, Olivia Antczak and Meg Hanley, throwing nothing but zeroes up on the board, the Raiders got just enough offense in the fourth to knock off Newton South in the Division 1 North first-rounder.
Antczak, the starter and winner, opened the fourth with a double and trotted home on Karoline Leavitt's RBI base hit. Leavitt would later score the insurance run on a South error.
Today at 4 p.m., Central hosts Bishop Fenwick in the North quarterfinals.

Amanda Williams towered above the rest inside with a 23-point, 12-rebound night.
The Raiders will face Boston Latin in the title game tonight at 5:30 on the campus of St. John's Prep.
