Pythons fall in offensive explosion

DERRY — Pelham and Souhegan lit up the Pinkerton Academy field Saturday afternoon.

The two offenses combined for 76 points and 850 total yards of offense, but it was Souhegan that pulled out the 44-33 win.

Both team's traded scores in the first quarter. Charlie Katin and Mason Fecteau scored on runs of 50 and 12 yards respectively for Pelham, but those TDs were offset by a pair of touchdowns from Souhegan's Trey Johnson.

A 15-15 game after the first quarter, Souhegan (3-3) took the lead for good on Johnson's third TD of the game. Pelham (3-3) made it 22-21 after Katin's second TD, but a failed 2-point conversion kept the Pythons trailing the rest of the way.

"Souhegan was able to make significant plays both in the running game and passing game," said Pelham coach Tom Babaian. "Give Souhegan credit. We have to improve if we want to continue to progress this season."

Katin finished the day with 115 yards on 10 carries and three total touchdowns. Brett Lindsay added 69 yards on 10 carries, and quarterback Ian Hoey was 14-of-21 passing for 112 yards and a rushing TD. 

Pelham hosts ConVal Saturday at 6 p.m.
